How to submit an article or story

To send photographs by email, see How to submit photographs below. Please dont forget to include your postal address.

• By post – typed using double spacing, accompanied by a Stamped Addressed Envelope (if you live in Australia) or an Addressed Envelope (if you live overseas) to enable return if not accepted for publication.

Authors of articles and stories that are published receive a complimentary copy of the magazine in which their article or story is published.

How to submit photographs
Please note that only photographs in good condition (i.e. no age spots, tears, creases etc) can be reproduced in the magazine. Photocopies and laminated photographs cannot be reproduced.

• By email – scans must be High Resolution, ie

Please name your image file with your surname and the date you send it (e.g. SMITH01Jan2017.jpg). Include details of your photograph in the body of an email (i.e. not as an attached document) and attach your image file to the same email.
If sending more than one image file, name them SMITH01Jan2017_01.jpg, SMITH01Jan2017_02.jpg etc, describe them in the body of an email and attach your image files to one or more emails, and please dont forget to include your postal address.

• By post – please only send ‘photographic quality’ copies of photographs (i.e. Kodak or similar).

All photographs are carefully looked after and are returned after publication with a complimentary copy of the magazine in which they are published.

Family Album is also a lovely (and easy) way of letting readers know about your research interests, so if you have a photograph of your ancestors, please consider lending it to us for a future edition.

Please also note
• Copyright on all articles, stories and photographs published remains with the author.
• Preference is given to articles and stories that are accompanied by relevant photographs.
• A postal address must be included with all submissions, for publication in the magazine to enable readers
with possible family connections but not email to make contact.

Homeless Photos we have a small but growing collection, and you are most welcome to add to it by sending in unidentified photographs you have inherited or rescued from op shops, etc.
